The Roomier, More Capable 2020 Ford Explorer Is Coming Soon

If you like the 2019 Ford Explorer, you'll love the upcoming 2020 model. After offering the Explorer for 30 years, Ford is completely redesigning it for the 2020 model year. On the outside, the changes will be subtle. The wheelbase will increase by 6.3 inches, meaning that the front and rear wheels will be farther apart. The 2020 Ford Explorer will have a more sloping roofline, a shorter front overhang, and broader shoulders. The sides will have a different, more modern sculpting. The biggest change to the 2020 Explorer will be in its platform, as the base model will have rear-wheel drive instead of front-wheel drive.

The 2020 Ford Explorer will be more powerful and more capable than the outgoing model. It will have ten more horsepower, thanks to a switch from the standard 290-horsepower V6 engine to an inline four-cylinder motor that's expected to make 300 horsepower. Drivers in the Marquette and Gwinn, MI areas who do a lot of towing will like the Explorer's available 365-horsepower twin-turbocharged engine, which will enable it to tow up to 5,600 pounds - 12 percent more than before. Other engine options include a 400-horsepower V6 and a hybrid motor that produces 318-horsepower and allows a 500-mile range. The new Explorer will be available in rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. An available Terrain Management system will have seven selectable drive modes that will enable you to customize the Explorer's handling and performance.

Inside the cabin, you'll have ample space to stretch out in the 2020 Ford Explorer. It will offer best-in-class first- and second-row hip room and second-row headroom, along with a surprisingly spacious third row. People in the Ishpeming and Negaunee areas who bring a lot of stuff on the road with them will appreciate that the new Explorer will have over six cubic feet more cargo space - at 87.8 cubic feet of room with the rear seats folded. Sliding second-row seats will make the cargo area easily accessible. The new Explorer will be available in six trim levels (Base, XLT, Limited, Hybrid, ST, and Platinum) to give you a variety of options. Standard features will include the SYNC 3 infotainment system with Apple Carplay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. An available twin-panel moonroof will lighten the interior and allow for breathtaking outdoor views.

You'll find it easy to be a safe driver in the 2020 Ford Explorer, which will come standard with the Ford Co-Pilot 360 package. This includes a rearview camera with a lens cleaner, automatic headlights, automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning and dynamic brake support. The 2020 Ford Explorer will be roomier and more capable, and it will be available this summer at Fox Marquette. Contact us to schedule a test drive.
